Chinese LGBT activist Guo Ziyang, and former Asia Catalyst partner, has a chance to return to the U.S. to fundraise for a special medical fund for people living with HIV in China–but he needs our help to get to the START line!
AIDS LifeCycle is co-produced by the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the Los Angeles LGBT Center and has been running for 14 years. It has thousands of participants who ride bicycles from San Francisco to Los Angeles over 7 days. In 2015, the event generated $15.5 million for HIV/AIDS treatment and care.
Guo Ziyang was inspired to participate in the ride and became the first rider from China. Through a special arrangement with the organizers, he is now able to use the money his ride raises to set up an emergency medical loan program specifically to help people living with HIV to cover their medical treatment for non-related health issues. This fund has already provided emergency medical care to several people living with HIV. He has committed to ride every year to continue this effort.
Please consider donating to support this event. The goal is $3,000. I hope you will support our effort and help us spread the word.
